The hotel has played a leading role in Kenya's colourful history and continues to be Nairobi's finest and best-known hotel. It is still the traditional starting point for safaris, and the Lord Delamere Terrace is modern Nairobi's most famous meeting place, where drinks and light meals are served continuously from morning until midnight. The hotel was expanded in 1999 and subsequently renovated in time for its centennial, which it celebrated in 2004. It was updated once again in 2008. The hotel now offers accommodation in 165 guest rooms and suites and has 8 conference rooms, the largest seating 175 delegates, a beauty salon, a book shop and gift shops. Guests are additionally provided with on-site currency exchange facilities, a café, a bar, restaurants, WLAN Internet access and a laundry service.
