The hotel is situated in Negril, Jamaica, amidst 89,000 m² of lush grounds and beside the world-famous 'Seven-Mile' Beach (11 km in length). It is 88 km to Montego Bay airport.

Since opening its doors over 28 years ago, the hotel has been the most widely recognised, infamous resort in the world, with the highest volume of return guests and loyal clientele in the industry. Renovated in 2005, the air-conditioned hotel comprises a total of 280 rooms. Each of the rooms has been completely renovated with a new colour scheme, soft furnishings and bathrooms featuring new multi-head showers. A 4-person suite with a Jacuzzi may be booked. Facilities for the disabled include 3 rooms with wheelchair access (1131, 2110 GVN and 2140 GVR), with a portable ramp to access to bedroom and bars in the bathroom in addition to lifts. All areas of the hotel may be accessed by wheelchair users with the exception of the piano bar where there are a few steps at the entrance, and the dance floor in the main dining room is sunken and so not accessible.
